years of experience working

I'm specialized in Medical and Applied Entomology with strong passion for Biosafety and Biosecurity Risk (Biorisk) Management

Academic Profile

Research Interests

-Exposing various insects species of public health importance to extracts to the powders, ethanol extracts, petroleum ether extracts, aqueous extracts, and essential oils from leaves, roots, bark, root bark etc of various plant species locally available in Nigeria for their insecticidal, repellency, growth regulatory, ovicidal, larvicidal and other effects on test species. These involves exposing the test insects species of known developmental stages and age to test formulations over specific time interval in standard acute and (chronic) bioassays in laboratory and field studies. Prior to exposures, stock cultures of test insect species are raised and maintained in the laboratory being kept away from any toxicant for many generations. Studies are carried out under measured ambient laboratory conditions of temperature and relative humidity using various life stages of the test insect species including Anopheles gambiae sl, Musca domestica, Periplaneta americana, Callosobruchus maculatus, Tribolium casteneum and Sitophilus zeamais in standard bioassays.
-Biosafety, Biosecurity and Laboratory Biorisk Management. My laboratory work on insects of public Health Importance have led to interests in these emerging issues with particular focus on Biosafety of Genetically modified Organisms including insects, Laboratory Biorisk Management and management of laboratory and bioharzadous Wastes from animals, public health facilities etc.
